It's time to fire up the grill!!

Well guys, summer is HERE!!! I just thought I would tell you in case you missed the signs by the already soaring temperatures. ;) I seem to have been majorly bitten by the grilling bug this year! (Which is highly preferred over the mosquito bug!!!!!!! AMEN!) So far, I've grilled steaks 3 times, chicken 2 times, and vegetable kabobs, portabella mushrooms, and summer squash! Phew. There's just something about the taste of grilled food! Ya know what I mean???

Something that has inspired me to start out so early this year is that we have just finished upgrading our deck out back!! ("Finished" meaning that the last nail has been hammered, the last screw twisted, and the last board laid. The only thing remaining is to stain the wood - which can be done no earlier than 6 months from now! Laaaame!) When we were doing the upgrade, I got to design my own grilling station!! Daddy did an incredible job at building "from my head!" It looks amazing! Incredible! Fabulous!!! (I'm excited if you missed that!!)
My stationary grill table. Complete with utensil hooks!

My folding grill table! Aaaamazing!!! :)

To each his own, I know, but I just want to share with you how we like to grill a few things. Maybe you'll like them too! :) For steaks, the best thing I've found to do is marinate them in Allegro for at least an hour before grilling. Allegro acts as a tenderizer and gives the meat a great flavor! To us, there's nothing better than a squash sandwich! (Well, maybe a squash and tomato sandwich..) I had one today!! Simply slice some yellow and zucchini squash lengthwise. Combine squash, some olive oil, and seasoning and mix together so that the squash is covered. Throw them on the grill for about 5 minutes per side and they're ready to go!

                                              Yummy grilled Squash

My goal is to tackle grilled fruits this year. Let's see if I can get it done!! (I'm trying to motivate myself right now...hehe.) I just got a new dessert cookbook today and there are a lot of grilling recipes in there. Who knows what I'll come up with doing!

I also want to try grilled Lasagna.....

Happy eating,
~HB~
P.S. Two posts in one day! Don't get used to this. :P
