Kilwins Chocolate - Charleston, SC

I have a confession to make. I am a complete and utter die-hard addict when it comes to chocolate. For those of you that have known me all of my life, I know that this is probably hard to believe. I grew up eating the cake off of my icing and vegetables before my meat, but there are two things that I cannot go long without eating. Bread and chocolate. They are this girl's best friend in the food world! Now let me just say, I have been blessed with some MEGA self-control when it comes to these. (Thank the good Lord!) I love to work out and I eat my vegetables,  so I think that it's okay for me to have this *cough**cough* "problem." (Can I get a show of hands in agreement???)

Anyway....

Last week, my sister and I went to South Carolina with a Southern Methodist Church group to tour the Tabernacle .(It's in Orangeburg at Southern Methodist College until October. This is a life-size replica of the Tabernacle that was made in Old Testament time. It's incredible!!!)

After we finished, our group loaded up and headed over to Charleston for half a day of sightseeing! Amongst other wonderful things that we did and places that we ate on the trip, I'm telling you, I am SO glad that my sister and I stumbled upon Kilwins!

It happened after we had stopped at a local bakery that turned out to not be a bakery at all (or at least not in my dictionary). I was a little disappointed and annoyed because I had literally pulled my sister away from The Market to run over and try it before we had to leave. I apologized profusely. We decided to go eat at Haagen-Dazs.

On our way there, I spotted Kilwins and we decided to go in. I'm so glad that we did! When you walk in, it's like you're being welcomed into a chocolate heaven. I was completely blown away at the selection of fudge that I didn't even notice the other half of the store that had caramels, truffles, tuttles (I promise that's how it's spelled), toffee, clusters, and SO much more! It's probably a good thing that I didn't see it...

After sampling a few of the many fudge flavors, my sister decided on half a bar of Mint Chocolate Chip fudge and I picked half a bar of Sea-Salt Caramel fudge. Ohmyword. That fudge was THE BEST piece of fudge that I have EVER put in my mouth! (Surpassing all fudge made in my family history!) It was a deliciously smooth chocolate that had ribbons of caramel all throughout it and a sprinkling of sea salt on the top. When I took a bite, it literally melted in my mouth!

 (See what I mean?!?!?!?)

Apparently there are multiple Kilwins stores in 18 states across the country (YES!!!!!), so if you're going on a trip soon, be sure to go to their website and see if there's a location near where you'll be. You won't be sorry!

Happy eating,
~HB~
